1954 Gibson Les Paul Gold Top

1954 Gibson Les Paul Gold Top (Serial Number 4 0809)

I first saw this guitar in Sydney in 1984 whilst touring with a band from Perth, Western Australia. It was the ‘cleanest’ vintage Gibson Les Paul I’d seen. It ended up being sold to an investor and disappeared for some time.

In 199? It came on the market again and, remembering how good the guitar was, I went to check it out. It was still in great condition and also sounded excellent so I made the move to purchase it. (It basically cost me an all original 1962 Fender Stratocaster in fiesta red, still with original hang tags) I figured there were more early 60s Strats about than 1954 Les Pauls.

It’s a great sounding and playing guitar.

  1. I have one that I am the second owner of I got it in 1967 the serial number is 4 1123 Harold Bradley in Nashville said the neck was excellent and that it would make a perfect session guitar. It is all original and I would sell it for the right price.
