Had a great weekend at the Gympie Music Muster. Gympie is located approx. 160 kms north of Brisbane in Queensland. I played 2 gigs with Mental As Anything and also played a few ‘surf’ tunes at the Fender Jam early Saturday evening. There was lots of music to be had in many different styles, Country, Rock, Bluegrass, Folk and more. “Jolene” seemed to be a popular song this year, was heard often…
The two ‘Mentals’ shows went extremely well to a very enthusiastic audience. We even managed to throw in a Kenny Rogers song, “Ruby”, to a great response.
View from my hotel balcony in Noosa.
Headed into the Muster.
We did two nights at the Crow Bar.
Someone threw a giant pair of undies on the stage for Greedy.
The next day was the Fender Jam with Kevin Borich, Tim Gaze, Ross Wilson, Ian Moss and myself.
I signed a guitar for Fender.
And then played a few tunes.
Later that night the Mentals played a great set at the Crow Bar again to a huge, muddy, wet crowd.
The van got a flat tyre on the way back to the hotel. Luckily it had stopped raining by then.
All in all, a fun weekend.
